The following complementary therapies are available at WHISC’s Bold Street premises:
- Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy combines massage with pure essential oils, which are specifically blended to suit individual needs. They can ease stress, relieve muscle tension, and stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage. Regular treatments can benefit people with a wide range of complaints, help calm the mind, relax the body and boost energy level
- Reiki
Reiki is a very popular form of ‘Hands on Healing.’ Energy is said to be transferred to the client via the practitioner by placing hands on or above the head and body in various positions, aiding deep relaxation, helping many physical/emotional problems, and promoting wellbeing.
-
Deep Tissue/Sports
Sports massage involves the manipulation of soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments and tendons to restore and/or achieve optimum muscle function. It can help to prevent injury or to promote recovery from injury by improving muscle tone, flexibility and range of movement.
- Indian Head Massage
Working on the back, neck, shoulders, arms, scalp and face; helping to relieve tension, stiffness, headaches, eyestrain; improving circulation and promoting a feeling of wellbeing. The use of oil is optional and it may be carried out fully clothed.
- Reflexology
Nerve endings terminating on the feet have a reflex relationship with every organ, tissue and structure in the body. Applied pressure to specific reflex points brings about a homeostatic, balancing, effect. Helpful for stress, tension, anxiety, migraine, digestive issues and fertility issues
Aftercare
To get the most out of your treatment you are advised to:
- Avoid stimulants such as tea, coffee and alcohol for the next 24 hours. These can dehydrate you.
- Have as much rest and relaxation as possible so your body has the maximum benefit.
- Drink plenty of water to help the body flush out toxins.
- Following an Aromatherapy treatment, avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and sun beds.
- Shampoo hair before adding water.
After your treatment, you may experience mild flu-like symptoms. This is not unusual and is your body’s natural way of releasing toxins. These symptoms can last around 24-48 hours.
We advise you to have regular treatments to ensure that the feeling of wellbeing is maintained.
