The Women’s Health Information & Support Centre hosts a number of peer support groups which meet at the Bold Street premises. WHISC works with the groups to help them achieve their aims. Guest speakers and activities are arranged whenever possible.
All WHISC’s support groups are FREE to attend except where specified.
Currently we hold the following groups…
Strength and Support
This support group is for women affected by depression and anxiety.
The group will meet at WHISC every Wednesday of the month, 2.30-4pm.
Postnatal & Perinatal Depression (PND) Group
This support group is for women experiencing depression or anxiety during pregnancy or following the birth of their baby. Those affected are invited to come along and meet other mum’s sharing similar experiences.
The group meets every Friday 10.00-11.45am.
Mental Health Drop-in
WHISC have a new drop-in service for women experiencing mental health issues to discuss their needs and identify services that can support them.
The service will run every Wednesday at 1.00-2.30pm and 3.30-4.30pm.
Eating Disorders Support Group
Confidential support group for all women with an eating disorder or caring for someone with a problem around food.
The group meets every second Thursday of the month, 6-7pm.
Menopause Support Clinic
Confidential information and support clinic. Telephone consultations also available.
Available on every second Monday of the month, 1-3pm.
Women’s Reading Group
Come along and enjoy a variety of short stories and poems together with other women. A great opportunity to socialise and relax. All materials provided (a voluntary donation of 50p is suggested to cover costs).
The group meets every Monday, 3.00-4.15pm
