The World Economic Forum has published a report detailing gender disparities in 144 countries between men and women across the 4 areas of health, education, economy, and politics. As a result of this analysis, the Global Gender Gap Report has predicted that gender disparities won’t be erased until 2186.
I’m sure most will agree that 150 years is far too long to wait for half the population to catch up with the other but what can we do to shorten the wait?
Well, one way is to take part in International Women’s Day on 8th March. This year the campaign is asking everyone to #BeBoldForChange and use the day as an opportunity to:
- Declare bold actions they’ll take to help accelerate gender parity across the world
- Celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women to help drive positive change
Naturally, WHISC are keen to be part of this bold action. So, on Wednesday 8th March, they are providing workshops as follows:
11am, Get Crafty – A fun session making broaches
12pm, Hatha Yoga – All abilities welcome
1pm, Guided Meditation – Relax with the lovely Michelle
1.30pm, Aroma Peace – An interactive workshop in how to use natural oils for relaxation
They will also be offering massage therapy, a cuppa and a chat throughout the day. All WHISC’s events for International Women’s Day are FREE and you are more than welcome to wear your national dress or dress up for the occasion.
If you require more information about what WHISC are planning for the day, please do get in touch – but don’t forget to visit the International Women’s Day website as well. It contains lots of information about the campaign and the ways you can take part and make a difference.
